Sri Lanka Bank Codes & Branch Codes

Every licensed bank in Sri Lanka has a bank code — a four-digit number that identifies the bank in the island's clearing systems. You need it when setting up SLIPS/CEFTS transfers, standing orders, salary payments or online fund transfers between different banks. International transfers use the bank's SWIFT code instead. The table below lists both for each licensed bank.

How branch codes work

Each bank branch also has its own branch code (usually three digits). Inter-bank transfers ask for the bank code and the branch code together — for example a transfer to a Commercial Bank account needs bank code 7056 plus the code of the specific branch. You can find your branch code on your cheque book, bank statement, your bank's own website, or by asking the branch. A full island-wide branch directory is too large (and changes too often) to reproduce reliably here, so always take the branch code from your own bank's material.
